Sedentary time tied to increased diabetes risk, study finds
A study in Diabetology showed that the risk of type 2 diabetes increased by 22% for every extra hour spent sitting daily. Researchers evaluated more than 2,000 adults with a mean age of 60 and found those who spent more sedentary time had a 1.13 times higher risk of one to two metabolic syndrome criteria and 1.39 times higher odds for three to five criteria of the syndrome, regardless of whether they engaged in more high-intensity exercise activity.
